Willowbrook Lake Dam Replacement

The same April 2014 storm event that damaged infrastructure in the Blue Springs and Crescent Lake area also caused the Willowbrook Lake Dam to fail, impacting local residents in the area. The penny was a partial funding source for the replacement of the failed earthen dam. The project was completed in June 2022 and included:

  • Replacement of the failed section of the earthen dam

  • Hydraulic modeling of the area to properly size the overflow structure

  • Restoration of the dam to protect the surrounding neighborhood from future failure

When a dam fails, the consequences for nearby residents can be severe. Local Option Sales Tax pennies helped ensure Willowbrook Lake Dam was rebuilt to modern standards, protecting the community it serves.
